What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?

Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.

Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation was as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brought them together was the same thing that kept them emotionally caged.

With Saint’s scars so deep and Drew’s so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

My Thoughts

Okay…so….it has been a while since a single book left me on the edge of my seat, wanting the rest of the series so badly. Mann has struck romantic, emotional gold with Pulled Beneath. Her characters are complex, flawed and just amazing.

I could not wait to turn the pages, and I’m pretty sure I stayed up all night flipping the pages, totally absorbed in the saga of Drew and Saint. I think the thing I loved most about this book is that Drew and Saint were both trying to overcome painful pasts. They both had a lot to prove, they had both built walls around their hearts. Their mutual attraction (the kind love stories are written about, literally) did a lot to help break down those walls.

However, the love blossoming between them is not a cure-all. It doesn’t make life instantly better for Drew…or for Saint. It gives them a partner to help untangle the messy, painful webs. This makes it feel more real. Love doesn’t instantly make life all better.

Wrapping up my review today, I thought I’d give you guys a little update. Last week, I was on Spring Break from my nanny job. I had all these illusions of getting caught up with this little blog space.

  • I wanted to tell you how overwhelmed and grateful I am for the response to Line Drive thus far.
  • I wanted to tell you all about Bases Empty, the next installment in the Philadelphia Liberty series. More importantly, I wanted to write more of Bases Empty.
  • I wanted to tell you all about the things flying off my crochet hook lately and about the shop I plan to open this summer.
  • Mostly, I just wanted to connect with you, my readers.

But alas, my aunt died, I battled INSANE rain…and plain just didn’t get much done. Though I did start Bases Empty and Sophia kind of swept me away by taking over and taking me outside my planning. I will be back soon with more on what’s going on in my life.

I’m thinking about starting some regular features like Word in Progress Wednesday and Handmade Mondays.

What’s happening in your world?
